I am a caregiver for my mother, a dementia patient. Over the years, I have made mistakes, as well as learned things. More, I have realized how much support dementia caregivers need, and how important it is to share experiences with other caregivers. I have benefited a lot from the material available online and in books, and from people who have been willing to share tips and talk about the ups and downs of caregiving.
In this section, I am sharing resources and tips for caregiving for dementia patients.
Dementia/ caregiving in India: my other sites
In addition to this "Dementia and caregiving" section on this site, I maintain two more sites for dementia care in India.
Blog on dementia and caregiving in India
This blog has over a hundred entries, where I share my personal caregiving journey, dementia behavior challenges faced, tips gathered, interactions with other dementia caregivers in India, comments on dementia care in India, etc.
Website for dementia caregivers in India
This website contains information on dementia, planning care, essential caregiving skills, resources in India (including city-wise information for cities like Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, etc.), etc. The focus is caregiving in the Indian context, and examples, tips, and specific information are all relevant for caregivers in India.
The site also includes "caregiver voices": interviews of caregivers and experts, links to blog entries that are relevant, and links to news items where caregivers talk of their experiences. Look around the site, send me your comments and suggestions, spread the word...
Caution:These are not medical sites, and not intended to replace medical advice. Please consult your doctor for any specific situation.
